How We Test & Review
Trust in this category is broken — most "reviews" are rewritten press releases. Here is exactly how HomeBackupLab produces its content, so you can judge whether to trust ours.
Methodology
- We work from manufacturer specs and verified owner data. Capacity, output, and expansion claims come from official spec sheets; real-world runtime figures are cross-checked against owner-reported data and published independent tests.
- We model economics, not vibes. Payback math uses stated assumptions (electricity rates, outage frequency, incentive status as of the page's update date) that you can adjust with our calculators.
- Incentive data is dated and sourced. Programs change constantly post-2025; every incentive page carries a 'last verified' date and links to the official program page.
- Vendors don't pay for placement. Some links are affiliate links — if you buy through them we may earn a commission at no cost to you. Rankings are set independently.
Corrections policy
When we're wrong, we fix it and date the fix. Errors reported via the contact page are typically corrected within a few days. Every substantive page displays its last-updated date.
AI assistance disclosure
We use AI tools for research aggregation and drafting; every published claim, number, and verdict is reviewed and owned by a human editor. Sources and dates are cited on data-bearing pages.
